HMRC launch Insolvency Practitioner Handbook
HMRC has publish an Insolvency Practitioners (IP) Handbook on GOV.UK designed to make life easier for IPs by bringing clarity and accessibility to essential information.
Currently, guidance is spread across resources such as Insolvency VAT Notice 700/56 and HMRC’s insolvency practitioner bulletins. The new IP Handbook consolidates these into one structured platform. The new website area is designed to give and provide:
Clearer guidance: The handbook offers a more accessible format, ensuring IPs can quickly find what they need.
Improved navigation: A streamlined structure enhances the guidance journey, reducing unnecessary delays and supporting efficient case progression.
Future-proofing: While the initial layout mirrors the existing VAT Notice, HMRC plans to review and update each section over time, ensuring technical accuracy and relevance.
During a transition period, the existing VAT Notice 700/56 page will remain live, but the handbook is now the primary source for HMRC’s insolvency guidance.
