CCAB publishes podcasts on AI-related ethics issues
The Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies (CCAB), which ICAS is a member body of, has published two podcasts exploring the ethical use of AI by professional accountants and business leaders.
The podcasts, available from the CCAB’s website, and which could form part of your required ethics Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for the year, are:
1. Can we use AI ethically? — Examining ethical implications of AI in finance and accountancy.
This episode explores a series of difficult questions AI raises for professional accountants and business leaders. It covers data privacy issues, bias and hallucinations, and whether it's even possible to use AI ethically.
It's hosted by Tom Parker, Executive Producer and Presenter, and features:
- Professor Susan Smith, Professor of Accounting at University College London and Chair of the CCAB Ethics Group
- Alistair Brisbourne, Head of Technology Research within the Policy and Insights team at ACCA
- Dr Giles Cuthbert, Former Managing Director of the Chartered Bankers Institute and Doctor in AI and ethics
2. How will AI reshape culture? — Discussing impacts on workplace culture, leadership, and professional development.
This episode examines the potential impact of AI, both positive and negative on organisational culture. Host Tom Parker is joined by:
- James Barbour CA, Director of Policy Leadership at ICAS
- Laura Hough, Director of Trust and Ethics at ICAEW
- David Lyford-Tilley, Head of Standards and Technical at CIPFA
- Dr Wieke Scholten, Social & Organisational Psychologist at BR Insights
