Apply for a reasonable adjustment
We recognise that - as a result of disabilities or learning difficulties - some students and members will require reasonable adjustments to how we provide learning and assessments during their Chartered Accountant (CA) learning journeys.

Disability rights and support
Disability Information Scotland
Disability Information Scotland is a charity providing “impartial, accurate and helpful information” for disabled people and their families in Scotland. The website includes an impressive directory.
UK Government
The UK Government provides useful resources on your rights if you become disabled, including financial support.
Scottish Government
There is also a range of support packages for disabled people in Scotland, highlighted on the MyGov.scot website.
Wales / Northern Ireland
You’ll also find useful information on health and social care services on the Welsh Government and the NIDirect site in Northern Ireland.
Scope
Scope is the disability equality charity in England and Wales. It provides practical information and emotional support when it's most needed campaign to create a fairer society. You can access their support services including a telephone helpline and an online community.
Employment and employer support
Remploy
Remploy is a leading provider of specialist employment and skills support for disabled people and those with health conditions. It aims to transform the lives of disabled people and those experiencing complex barriers to work by supporting thousands of people every year across a range of programmes.
RNIB – help for employees with visual impairment
The Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB) provides useful information for jobseekers, those in work and employers supporting people with sight loss. This includes information on reasonable adjustments at work and equality legislation.
RNID - help for employees with hearing loss
The Royal National Institute for Deaf People (RNID) offers workplace assessments to help employees with hearing loss perform at their best. The assessment will recommend equipment, support and reasonable adjustments that can be introduced to help an employee work more easily and effectively.
The workplace assessment report can be used to apply for a grant from the government’s Access to Work scheme. A grant can help employers cover the cost of adjustments.
Dyslexia
The British Dyslexia Association (BDA) has been the voice of dyslexic people since 1972. The charity offers a range of dyslexia-related services, from advice for individuals and employers to workplace assessments, courses and a free and confidential helpline.
Dyslexia Scotland
Dyslexia Scotland is a national charity dedicated to enabling people with dyslexia in Scotland to realise their potential. It offers a confidential helpline, providing advice and guidance on dyslexia-related issues in Scotland. The charity also offers advice and support to individuals, parents and employers.

Microsoft and Google
Technology companies like Microsoft, Apple and Google provide support services for disabled users. New versions of software are also being delivered with improved accessibility features. For instance, the Live Captions feature is built into Windows 11 systems.
Otter transcription software
Otter is an assistant powered by artificial intelligence that lets you generate rich notes for meetings, interviews, lectures, and other important voice conversations.
