Q&A responses

  1. Is there a risk that small companies might have to pay for 'assurance/ audit' services in respect of their sustainability data (even if they do not require to engage financial auditors?
The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) in Europe requires assurance over sustainability reporting beginning with limited assurance then reasonable assurance in future. The requirements are being phased in and will apply to listed SMEs from 1 January 2026. However, small companies who are not subject to CSRD may be required to disclose sustainability data to partners in their supply chain, and these partners could request assured data to add credibility to
submissions, or undertake an internal audit of such data.
    2. Question for Rob - From what you are saying, it sounds like EICC are not buying 100% green electricity. Why not?
EICC uses a wholly renewable energy tariff provided by EDF Energy. They are also exploring the transition to renewable energy generation on and off site.
