We are delighted to be able to offer the ICAS Mentoring programme as a benefit to our members and students.

Working with a mentor can be beneficial at all stages of your career, from your training contract, through your early post-qualified years and even when you’re an established manager or leader. ICAS Mentoring is a great way for CAs to turn ambitions into success and can support your career development. Building a strong mentoring relationship can open doors, and for mentors, is the perfect way to give back and help fellow members.

At ICAS, we strive to assist and inspire you through every stage of your professional life. This is why we established the ICAS Mentoring programme, to better support our members’ development, both professionally and personally.

Start your mentoring journey with ICAS today

The ICAS Mentoring Programme is designed to make it easy for you to begin your mentoring journey. You can get started with these straightforward steps.

  1. Register on the ICAS Mentoring platform: Simply select whether you want to join as a mentor, a mentee, or both, and complete the quick sign‑up process.
  2. Complete your profile: After registering, complete your profile with as much detail as possible. Keeping your profile specific and up to date ensures more accurate and a more effective mentoring relationship.
    • Mentors: Your information helps us to match you with mentees seeking skills and experience.
    • Mentees: Your profile enables the system to suggest mentors based on the criteria you select.
  3. Search for a match: Once your profile is complete, you’ll see a list of potential mentors who meet your selected criteria.
    • The closest matches appear at the top.
    • You can adjust your search criteria at any time to refine or broaden your results. This allows you to identify the mentor who best aligns with your current goals and preferences.
  4. Ask a question: Before sending a request, you can view a mentor’s profile and choose to ask them a question. This helps you confirm whether they’re the right fit for your goals.
  5. Send a request: Once you're confident you've found the right mentor, send them a mentoring request and add a short note explaining the support you're looking for. The mentor will receive an email alert and can accept, decline, or message you first if they need clarification. If your request is declined, you can choose another mentor to contact.

"Registering as a mentor is simple and straightforward. By completing a short profile highlighting your experience and skills, you open the door for mentees to connect and learn from you"

- Katherine Ritchie CA (mentor)

"I found the process seamless and tailored and was very easy to access and navigate to find the best, personalised mentor for you! The process happened very quickly from outreach to having my first meeting and the relationship has continued on 1+ year after"

- Shannon Devlin CA (mentee)
