Overall, we want to gather a more holistic and transparent EDI data profile to identify and take action to address any potential discrimination, harassment, and conscious or unconscious bias.
Clive Bellingham CA, ICAS President
“As part of our journey toward placing equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) at the heart of ICAS, we have committed to publishing the EDI demographic of our Council and Boards every two years. This includes the Office Bearer team of myself, Alison and Karen.
“It also includes Members Board, Qualifications Board, Regulation Board, Policy Leadership Board, Ethics Board, Members in Practice Advisory Board and the EDI Committee.
“Data was last published in August 2021, so this month we have once again shared the latest data collected voluntary from our members, as well as from Council and Boards.
“Collecting and analysing this data allows us to better understand current challenges and opportunities in terms of EDI across our whole organisation.
“Overall, we want to gather a more holistic and transparent EDI data profile to identify and take action to address any potential discrimination, harassment, and conscious or unconscious bias.”

I am asking you to join me in becoming a member of the Foundation 25. Have fun, challenge yourself, tap into your networks and raise much-needed funds for the ICAS Foundation.
Alison Cornwell CA, ICAS Deputy President
“I was delighted to be involved in launching Foundation 25 this month. Following my 1,000 mile cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groats last year, this year I’m calling on fellow CAs to join me in a new fundraising campaign to raise money for the ICAS Foundation.
“We’re looking for 25 CAs to rise to the challenge and raise £1,000 each for the Foundation to generate £25,000. You can join by doing any challenge, nothing is too small or big. Whether you’re into cycling, climbing a Munro or there’s a secret baker in you.
“By calling on my network last year, I was able to raise over £25,000. It showed that as a community, CAs want to support talented young people from disadvantaged communities to join our profession.
“For 2023, I am asking you to join me in becoming a member of the Foundation 25. Have fun, challenge yourself, tap into your networks and raise much-needed funds for the ICAS Foundation.”

Our letter called on the Scottish government to scope its planned wider review of Scottish charity law without delay.
Karen Scholes CA, ICAS Vice President
“The new Charities (Regulation and Administration) (Scotland) Act 2023 received Royal Assent in August, prompting our letter to the Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice, Shirley-Anne Somerville MSP.
“Our letter called on the Scottish government to scope its planned wider review of Scottish charity law without delay, and to revisit the Scottish charity law audit threshold in response to auditor availability challenges.
“We welcomed the reforms to Scottish charity law under the Act. We also welcomed the Scottish government’s commitment to undertake a wider review of Scottish charity law in recognition that this Act is largely focused on updating the powers of the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator.”
