ICAS Mutual Recognition Agreement with US accountancy bodies comes to an end
On 27 August 2024 the Mutual Recognition Agreement between ICAS and NASBA/AICPA came to an end.
Following discussions with our regulator, the Financial Reporting Council, we are happy to confirm that any US Certified Public Accountants (CPA) enrolled with ICAS before 27 August 2024 will be able to complete their CA qualification under the previous arrangements.
US CPAs enrolled after 27 August 2024
US CPAs looking to become an ICAS member and obtain UK audit signing rights after 28 August 2024 will need to follow the pathway below:
- Complete a 2 to 3 year training contract in an ICAS Authorised Training Office. This includes a minimum 210 days of accepted audit, of which at least 105 days must be in Statutory audit.
- Completion of the following courses/assessments from the ICAS syllabus:
- Taxation and Business Law from the Knowledge level
- Advanced Reporting and Performance and Advanced Assurance from the Skills level
- And the full Integration level.
