ICAS Chief Executive writes to Financial Secretary to the Treasury
The ICAS Chief Executive has written to the new Financial Secretary to the Treasury highlighting ICAS Members' role in making a complex tax system work and calling for HMRC to be adequately resourced.
ICAS Chief Executive, Bruce Cartwright CA, has written to the newly appointed Financial Secretary to the Treasury, Rt. Hon. Lucy Frazer QC M.P., to offer congratulations on her appointment and introduce her to the work and priorities of ICAS and its Members.
The letter outlines the important role that ICAS Members play in making the UK's complex tax system work and suggests that a more effective and taxpayer-friendly tax administration should be an urgent priority for the Government.
The letter also expresses concerns about HMRC service standards, notes that service levels deteriorated further during the pandemic and calls for more adequate resourcing to help ensure an acceptable standard of service for taxpayers and agents.
