Can you help ICAS to promote equality, diversity and inclusion?
ICAS is calling for CAs to help the ED+I Committee focus on matters of equality, diversity and inclusion, so we can work together to drive positive change within our profession and society.
"I can't breathe". Those were some of the final words of George Floyd before he died following a brutal, inhumane and seemingly racially driven act of oppression. Those words reflect similar cries throughout the ages of many who have experienced discrimination because of their skin colour, gender, sexual orientation, physical ability, mental health, religion, class, age, or by simply being different from the considered norms of the day.
ICAS now, more than ever, can use its voice and privileged position as a respected, trusted and influential institute to play its part in dismantling the systems that discriminate and to address the structural biases that cause inequity and inequality in our society.
We want to do more than just drafting a statement and stating support on social media. We can and will do more. We want to take actions that drive positive change within our profession to become more diverse and inclusive. And to do that we need your help. ICAS wants to bring together, through the ED+I Committee, our members who are passionate about addressing discrimination and those who can share the voices and perspectives of people whose experiences are different to the majority and who will remain victims unless change happens.
Can you help us? This is our call to action to those CAs who would be interested in helping the ED+I Committee where together we will work to define the Institute's actions to support and drive change within our profession and society.
If you are interested in getting involved, then please contact members@icas.com. We've got lots of work to do, and by working together we can make change happen.
