Where are we now?
Here are some of the places we've virtually travelled through recently:
» CA House in Edinburgh, Scotland – ICAS HQ and our starting point.
» Woking Golf Club, England – This Top 100 Club hosts the Wood Cup, the prestigious annual golfing competition that’s been pitching ICAS against ICAEW since 1923.
» London, England – Our London Area Network, chaired by Jason Harvie CA, acts as a link between ICAS and over 5900 of our Members living and working in London.
» Brussels, Belgium – Home of Accountancy Europe, the body that unites 51 professional organisations, including ICAS, from 35 countries that represent over one million qualified accountants, auditors and advisors.
» Lyon, France – We checked in on Claire Blackburn CA, the CFO and HR Director at tech firm Wizaplace, who was recently profiled in CA magazine.
» Borgo Sansepolcro, Italy – This Tuscan town was the birthplace of the 15 Century Franciscan friar and mathematician, Luca Pacioli, the originator of double-entry bookkeeping who’s known as the 'Father of Accounting'.
» Zurich, Switzerland – Many ICAS CAs work in key roles for firms in and around Zurich, including Stuart Robertson CA, a Non-Executive Director at KPMG and local ICAS network Chair.
» Munich, Germany – In July the city will host One Young World, a gathering of the brightest young global talent, at which ICAS will be represented by Amjad Hassan CA our One Young CA winner for 2020.
» Berlin, Germany – There are currently 64 ICAS Members living and working in Germany. Did you know that CAs wishing to work in the country can access local support and value-added services via the GAA Passport Programme?
» Kraków, Poland – Birthplace of accountant Itzahk Stern, the bookkeeper and friend to Oskar Schindler who is credited with typing the list of names known as 'Schindler's list'.
» Sofia, Bulgaria – Former ICAS President Mike McKeon CA once served as an advisor to the Bulgarian Prime Minister and was awarded an MBE in 2014 for services to British Business in Bulgaria.
