Well Together inspiration from ICAS Member Michael Mallon CA
Well Together participant Michael Mallon CA shares his ideas, insights and inspiration for getting outdoors and staying active.
Introduce yourself:
I’m Michael Mallon CA. I live in Edinburgh and work for Clearwater Analytics.
How do you like to get outdoors, keep fit and stay active?
I do everything and anything. Normally I play a lot of field hockey but that hasn’t been possible much in the last 12 months, so I run and cycle a lot, plus I do a fair bit of yoga.
Tell us about your favourite place to exercise.
Doing laps of Arthurs Seat in Holyrood Park. It's perfect for a walk, run or cycle.
What inspires you to get outdoors, keep fit and stay active?
Food and having a desk job!
How do you fit exercise around your work/family schedule?
Exercise is a non-negotiable for me. It has to happen daily. Doing it in the morning helps, but sometimes I will exercise at lunch or in the evening too.
Has the way you exercise changed during COVID-19/lockdown?
Yes, no more team sports or face-to-face instructor-led classes.
Do you have any fitness hints and tips to encourage and inspire others?
If you’re trying to get into something, do it with a friend or family member and hold each other accountable daily.
If lockdown wasn’t a thing, where in the world would you like to go for a run, wheel, walk, cycle or swim?
Tuscany in the summer months and then cool down with some gelato.
Which ICAS Strava Club are you a member of?
What’s your Strava profile ID should CAs in your area want to follow you?
