The CA magazine: December 2019
Robert Outram, Editor of The CA, rounds up what's inside the December issue of the magazine.
It's not uncommon to see a sign in a small business warning: “Sorry, we don’t take cards.” Last month in London, however, I was at a coffee shop where the sign informed customers: “Sorry, we don’t take cash.”
It’s a sign of the times, and our feature on the Future of FinTech this month looks at how technology is changing our relationship with money, whether as consumers or in business.
The relationship between accountants in practice and their clients is also likely to be impacted by FinTech, and we look at some of the exciting opportunities that presents for the profession.
Also in this issue we talk to Catherine Black CA, FD at groundbreaking advertising agency St Luke’s, about what makes the culture at the company so special; we hear how the food and drink sector is changing; and we assess the results of our latest Brexit Tracker survey.
This will be my last column as Editor of this magazine, as I prepare to hand over to the team at River Group, who will be producing The CA from the February issue onwards. It’s been a pleasure and a privilege to edit this publication for ICAS for so many years; I wish my successor, this Institute and all our readers the very best for 2020 and beyond.
