The CA magazine: May 2019
Robert Outram, Editor of The CA, rounds up what's inside the May issue of the magazine.
Even if you haven’t heard of the Centre for the Moving Image (CMI), you probably have heard of at least one of the operations this not for profit organisation runs: the Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF), the world’s longest-running event of its kind.
Caroline Whyteside CA is Chief Operating Officer of the CMI and features on The CA’s front cover this month. As well as the EIFF, she oversees finance and management for two independent cinemas in Edinburgh and Aberdeen, and as she explains, for a CA who loves movies it’s an ideal job!
Also in this issue, you can see the result of an exclusive study of CA firms carried out for ICAS.
The 2019 Practice Survey reveals not only the wide range of financial performance achieved by firms, but also how some are at the forefront of technology while others are struggling to keep up.
If you work in the field of public practice, this is a must-read.
The May issue also features an interview with Mark Allison CA, Executive Director, Education with ICAS and Mark Hoskyns-Abrahall CA, setting out the exciting changes under way for the ICAS syllabus.
