A recent ICAS webinar delved into the subject of AI and ethics. You can read selected highlights from the session as part of our cover story examining one of the biggest issues facing the profession – and the wider world – right now, and one that is sure to remain at the top of the agenda throughout 2024.
We also feature a report on our Insolvency and Restructuring Conference, as well as a brief recap of the recent Clive Myrie event, held before a capacity crowd on HMS Belfast.
During 2023, ICAS hosted 52 events, broadcast 21 webinars, staged three conferences and ran 664 courses, all of which are benefits of your ICAS membership. One of our driving passions is to regularly engage with you, our members, making sure that we equip you with the tools and information you need to make better-informed decisions.
As highlighted in our previous issue, we recently launched Shaping the Profession, a programme of research, workshops and events designed to put us in a position to help members successfully adapt to the ever-changing business landscape, meeting the needs of shareholders, investors and stakeholders. Expect even more events in 2024, including our second sustainability summit in the spring. We will have more details in our next issue.
We’ve also opened up more in-person events to students. The chance to mix with and hear from experienced CAs is always an invaluable opportunity, and we know more senior figures in the profession enjoy sharing their knowledge and experience. One such is Past President Sir David Tweedie CA, who set the accounting standards that all students should aspire to. He talks about his career taking on the merchant banks and more.
Enjoy the issue.
