CA magazine: April 2023
Going green is good for business. And CAs are exceptionally well placed to work with sustainability experts and decision makers to drive the changes needed. They are also key players in the war against greenwashing.
April’s issue of CA magazine delves into these issues and more.
On 26 April, the ICAS Special Summit on Sustainability Reporting will be held in Westminster.
As a foretaste of what is to come, we have a special report on greenwashing and sustainability, featuring an interview with Eelco van der Enden, CEO of the Global Reporting Initiative, who says that for a company to make inflated claims about its green credentials is tantamount to “fraud”.
Ethics underpins everything we do at ICAS, as does sustainability, and we have set a roadmap that will see our organisation become net zero by 2045. Both our new curriculum and CPD courses will reflect the importance of sustainability, especially for the next generation of CAs. We are also committed to bringing new faces from diverse backgrounds into the profession, many of whom will view climate change as the defining issue of their generation. ICAS Foundation Director Sanjay Singh talks very openly and honestly about growing up in economically deprived circumstances, and how the charity he now leads is creating opportunities for young people based on talent and merit.
Social mobility and sustainability are issues consistently championed by Indy Singh Hothi CA, who writes his final column as ICAS President as his one-year term comes to an end. We will announce Indy’s successor at the ICAS AGM which takes place on 28 April.
The AGM will be also an opportunity to find out more about our 2030 strategy. Indeed, ICAS is embarking on a period of significant change, perhaps the greatest in its 169-year history, part of which will be unveiled in the next issue of CA magazine that will be published in the last week of April.
