ICAS gives evidence to a House of Lords inquiry into the draft Finance Bill
We have given written and oral evidence to a House of Lords inquiry into the draft Finance Bill.
Finance Bill Sub-Committee – inquiry into the draft Finance Bill
The House of Lords Economic Affairs Committee appoints a Finance Bill Sub Committee (FBSC) each year to consider aspects of the Finance Bill, concentrating on issues of tax administration, technical clarification and simplification rather than on rates or incidence of tax.
This year the FBSC is examining the following draft legislation.
- New measures to tackle promoters of tax avoidance, including the introduction of a criminal offence.
- The requirement for certain taxpayers to provide additional data to HMRC.
- Reforms to merge the two existing R&D tax relief schemes and to give additional tax relief to R&D intensive SMEs.
ICAS evidence
Susan Cattell, Head of Tax Technical Policy at ICAS, gave oral evidence to the Sub-Committee on 23 October. We also submitted written evidence which has been published by the FBSC together with other submissions to the inquiry.
