Read the winning Sustainability Essay
The winning essay in the 2017 ICAS Sustainability Essay Competition was written by Helen Marshall CA.
Helen is CFO of Falcon Coffees and therefore it should come as no surprise that coffee was the chosen subject for her essay.
Following the journey of the coffee bean from its beginnings through to the point that it reaches our coffee cup, the essay provides a real example of how accountants, and assurance providers, by applying their measurement and verification skills, can support the need for transparency and traceability in the supply chain.
Although the example of the coffee industry is used in Helen’s essay, the methodology and principles are not unique to that product and could be applied to other products and services across a variety of different sectors.
Key themes from some of the other essays submitted will be shared in due course.
