A4S release new sustainability guidance for SMEs and SMPs
A4S’s Accounting Bodies Network has published guidance for SMEs and their advisers on the practical steps to embed sustainability into their businesses and the benefits of doing so.
Last year ICAS, along with 13 chief executives of A4S Accounting Bodies Network, committed to achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions as soon as operationally possible, as well as providing an enabling environment for our Members to achieve net zero commitments.
As part of that promise, A4S is delighted to announce the publication of practical guidance for SMEs and SMPs on embedding sustainability into their businesses.
Representing about 90% of all businesses, SMEs’ collective impact cannot be underestimated; they are critical to fully addressing the environmental and social challenges we currently face.
As large organisations respond to stakeholder, regulatory and reporting requirements and realign their business models around sustainability goals, their supply chains – comprising mainly SMEs – will have to align their own activities with those sustainability targets.
However, it can be hard to know where to start, particularly when most SMEs have limited resources and multiple demands on their time. This is why the A4S Accounting Bodies Network (ABN), a grouping of global accounting bodies representing two thirds of the world's accountants, have published ‘Embracing Sustainability: Actions for SMEs’, providing accessible, practical information for SMEs and their advisers (SMPs). The guidance will help support busy and sometimes resource-stretched organisations to understand the ‘what’ and the ‘how’ of addressing the environmental and social challenges we face.
