25 May – Talking charity: Sustainability and impact reporting
Event summary
Watch ICAS and RSM for our joint webinar, hosted by Kelly Adams, Partner, at RSM UK, on sustainability and impact reporting from a charity sector perspective.
This webinar provides the opportunity to hear the latest on how charities are communicating their engagement with sustainability matters and looking at where they sit with sustainability reporting, while sharing practical examples of easy wins for small charities, as well as best practice sustainability reporting for larger charities.
In 2021, RSM examined the annual reports and websites of 114 charities across Scotland, England, and Wales to better understand how charities currently report their sustainability performance. Fast forward to 2023, RSM has updated this research, looking at how charities are responding to the rise in sustainability reporting, mirroring developments in the corporate world.
You will also hear from a team of academics who have completed their research on impact practice and impact reporting by charities, highlighting the key findings and recommendations from the second phase of their ICAS funded research.
During phase two, the team of academics from Cardiff University and Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, engaged with charity funders to obtain an in-depth understanding of the value they place on impact information and the extent to which they support charities in measuring and reporting their impact. They also analysed the content and form of charities’ external impact reporting, gaining insight into how charities are communicating publicly the difference they have made.
