Overview
This half day course provides an in-depth update of the key company law provisions which are in force as of 4th March 2024, and those which are to come in to force later in 2024/during 2025 and beyond, under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023 (“ECCTA 2023”).
It is ideal as a follow on to Company Secretary - The Essential Guide, building on the skills and knowledge gained in relation to the Companies Act 2006, the Company Directors Disqualification Act 1986 (“CDDA 1986”) and Companies House.
This course will benefit you by providing you with the knowledge and skills needed to advise on both the recent and the upcoming company law changes.

What you will learn
You’ll gain a solid understanding of the changes that have already been made and will be made in the future to the Companies Act 2006, the CDDA 1986 and to Companies House procedures as/when the new company law provisions of ECCTA 2023 come fully in to force following a phased implementation timetable. Changes covered will be:
- Company formation - ID verification, registered e mail address, disqualification confirmation
- Company names - computer code, connections with foreign governments, criminal purposes
- Register of members - changes, duty to supply information, power to protect information, nominees
- Company directors - corporates, disqualified directors, ID verification, appointment, register, personal information
- Company secretaries - register, consideration of ID verification
- PSCs - register, ceasing to be a PSC, serving notice, ID verification, investigations, personal information
- Small company accounts - delivery changes
- Exemption from audit - changes
- Companies House document delivery - Authorised Corporate Service Providers
- Companies House - new powers including strike off and disclosure
- Confirmation statement - changes
Please note that this course does not cover the parts of ECCTA 2023 dealing with money laundering, failure to prevent fraud, criminal liability of corporate bodies or regulatory and investigatory powers.
Practical group exercises, together with feedback, are used throughout to give you abilities that are actionable as soon as you return to work.
