Position Overview
The Head of Operational Finance is a newly created role and will report into the CFO. It is a critical addition to the finance function to ensure the effective management and reporting of working capital and act as a catalyst to detailed, accurate, and timely financial reporting.
As Head of Operational Finance, you will be responsible for the creation and management of an efficient shared services function - encompassing accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, treasury, and payroll. This will involve managing a team of transactional finance staff – each with different specialisms - ensuring they fully understand processes and their role within the finance infrastructure and wider business.
You will be expected to develop strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders (detailed above) and will be involved in finance transformation projects to ensure processes, systems, and controls remain fit for purpose.
Duties include:
- Creation and leadership of the shared service center to drive all key financial operations of the business
- Accounts receivable management including credit control
- Accounts payable management including supplier management
- Management of Insurances through Broker
- Management of Treasury/Cashflow
- Reporting and maintenance of Working Capital
- Management of Payroll
- Accounting and management information systems are appropriate, accurate, and effective.
- Contribute to the future finance system processes and MI design requirements
- Support annual audit process as required
- Support team needs and coordinate cross-functional efforts as needed to ensure efficient business processes are in place
- Good understanding of active projects
- Support finance talent development and succession planning initiatives
Person Profile
To be considered for the role, you will:
- Have experience leading transactional finance teams and/or shared service functions including Accounts Payable, Receivable, Credit Control, and Banking/Treasury (Payroll – advantageous)
- Have a track record of effectively managing and improving Working Capital in previous role(s)
- Have strong leadership skills and a track record of managing effective teams
- Have experience designing, documenting, and developing good finance processes
- Have experience operating ERP systems to a high level
- Have excellent communication skills and an ability to form strong, cross-functional relationships
- Have strong MS Excel skills and an ability to handle large datasets
