Doug Meikle CA still benefits daily from the network he built through training with ICAS.
I am the Financial Planning and Sustainability Manager at a startup called Growup Farms and I have been an ICAS graduate since 2016.
What firm did you do your CA training in?
I first became aware of ICAS when I was studying at Lancaster University. EY had a heavy presence there, so I did my internship through EY and they are an ICAS-authorised employer, so that was the natural route for me to go down when I started my graduate role with them.
What attracted you to becoming a CA?
The attraction to becoming a CA for me, was from numerous conversations and experiences I had with people at university, who said that the friendships and networks they built through training as a CA was one of the best things they could have done professionally. I'm still benefiting daily from the network I built while studying at ICAS as well.
What makes you proud to be a CA?
The three years is hard work, but you feel a huge sense of achievement at the end, and it's so well regarded around the world, in any industry or workplace.
What countries have you worked in, other than the UK?
I have had projects in Holland, Spain, and more recently over in Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur.
