Dean James Anderson CA chose to study the CA qualification as he values being able to have a career where no two days are the same.
I am currently Managing Director of Anderson and Edwards. I came to ICAS through the graduate route, after studying Accounting and Finance at Heriot Watt.
What firm did you do your CA training in?
I trained at a firm in Fife called James Hair & Co. It was a brilliant firm to work at and I got lots of hands-on experience, working with lots of farmers and speaking to clients very much from my first week working, which was great, and they supported me a lot through my ICAS training.
What's the best thing about being a CA?
The best thing about being a CA is having that recognition where you can put 'CA' after your name. There's something nice about having that sort of achievement to put on your LinkedIn profile or your CV.
What countries have you worked in, other than the UK?
I have been in a very fortunate position to have moved to Australia and worked out there. I worked for a music promoter and a firm out there, and it was brilliant seeing how a different country works even though it's quite similar to the UK.
