ICAS Qualifications Board – reporting requirements

Internal reporting by the Qualifications Board

ICAS’ General Regulations require the Qualifications Board to report:

• To Council, on an annual basis.
• To the Oversight Board, as and when requested.

The annual report to Council includes the following information:

• Statements from the Chair and a Public Interest Member.
• Governance information (e.g. current membership).
• Key strategy and education priorities.
• Statistical information about the education function.
• Risk analysis.
• Key priorities for the coming year.
• Board Evaluation Report

Internal reporting to the Qualifications Board

On an annual basis, the Qualifications Board receives and discusses reports from the TPE Exam Board and the Academic Panel. Where there are matters outside the normal reporting cycle, these are brought to the Board’s attention through either specific papers or through notes within the ‘Education Activities paper’. This allows the Qualifications Board to monitor the activities of these bodies, to ensure that they are satisfactorily discharging the functions delegated by the Qualifications Board.

The Qualifications Board also receives detailed statistical information about all of ICAS’ education activities, some of which is measured against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). This allows the Qualifications Board to monitor performance and to challenge where appropriate. In addition the Board has its own risk register which feeds into the ICAS risk register, with risk is considered regularly throughout the meeting cycle.

Self-evaluation

The Qualifications Board undertakes an annual self-evaluation exercise. This allows for a robust assessment of the effectiveness and impact of the work of the Qualifications Board. The feedback is used by the Qualifications Board and Council to ensure that the Qualifications Board is fulfilling its remit under the General Regulations, with appropriate follow-up action taken on areas of improvement.
